Maharashtra Polls: Nawab Malik’s Daughter Takes Swipe At NCP-SP Rival, ‘Better Than Being Actress's Husband’
Sana Malik has been fielded by the Ajit Pawar-led NCP from the Anushakti Nagar assembly constituency in Mumbai. She will take on Fahad Ahmad who is actor Swara Bhasker's husband.
Maharashtra Elections: Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik's daughter Sana Malik on Monday took a swipe at his rival Fahad Ahmad in the upcoming Assembly election in Maharashtra. Sana Malik has been fielded by the Ajit Pawar-led NCP from the Anushakti Nagar assembly constituency in Mumbai. She filed her nomination papers on Monday.
Malik will take on Ahmad who is actor Swara Bhasker's husband. He joined the NCP- SP faction led by Sharad Pawar on Sunday.
"I'm proud to be Nawab Malik's daughter. If Nawab Malik's daughter can become Anushakti Nagar's daughter, then that is better than being the husband of an actress," Sana Malik said.
Sana Malik's father Nawab Malik is the sitting MLA from Anushakti Nagar. He has been fielded by the Ajit Pawar NCP from Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar, despite objections from the BJP.
Sana Malik stated that she had worked hard for Anushakti Nagar and the locals rallying behind her as she headed to file her nomination showcased their support for her. The NCP candidate had held a roadshow ahead of her nomination filing today.

She further said that Ahmad is just a political opponent and not her enemy. "This is politics. No one is an enemy. There are only opponents. Right now they are opponents," she said.
"I won't speak about Fahad, but I will say that people here know me not just as a daughter of Nawab Malik, but they will say that they know me as I go to their homes, have tea with them, listen to our problems," India Today quoted Sana Malik as saying.
On whether her supporters would be confused since her father, who was once against the BJP, is now a member of the Mahayuti alliance, Sana Malik stated that they backed Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who carried out development work in the area.
"He supported me wholeheartedly at that time. And why do people elect a leader - for getting their work done and for the development of the area. Politics has nothing to do with that. So, whoever was there at that time for Anushakti Nagar, I supported them, and so we are with Ajit Pawar," she said.
'People Of Anushakti Nagar Know I Am The Right Candidate For Them': Sana Malik
After filing the nomination, Sana Malik said that it was an important day for her as it marked the beginning of her eloctoral journey in the Assembly polls. She also said that the people of the Anushakti Nagar seat know her because of the work she has done for the constituency along with her father and that they support her as they are confident she is the right candidate for them.
"Today is a very important day. It is very emotional for me because I am making a new beginning because this beginning is not in my politics. But I am contesting the assembly elections for the first time and I am contesting from a place where my father has already been an MLA. It is very emotional for me especially when our family has had so many issues. But people know how courageous we are, how much of a fighter we are. We never let our family issues come in front of the people and keeping that aside, we worked with full strength for the people of Anushakti Nagar. People showed faith in me. People love me and they know that this girl was working with her father and also without him. So this is the right candidate for us."

Nawab Malik is currently out on bail in a money laundering case. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in February 2022. Malik is also alleged to have links with Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The NCP leader had previously accused the BJP of using Enforcement Directorate and the CBI to create pressure on political opponents. However, he joined the NCP, which is a part of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance.
Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place in a single phase on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.
