Lok Sabha Elections: Karnataka Cong MLA Threaten To Quit Over Chikka Peddanna's Candidature
After the meeting with 2 MLCs, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti said that they had not formally submitted their resignations.
Five Karnataka Congress legislators threatened to resign from their posts over concerns regarding the allocation of a Lok Sabha ticket to senior party member and Minister Muniyappa's son-in-law, Chikka Peddanna, for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kolar. Regarding the issue, Karnataka minister and Congress leader MC Sudhakar along with three other MLAs and 2 MLCs met Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman on Wednesday. After the meeting with 2 MLCs, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti said that they had not formally submitted their resignations.
Speaking on state minister KH Muniyappa's son-in-law getting an election ticket from Kolar, Karnataka minister & Congress leader Dr MC Sudhakar said, "We want other people in the party to get a chance. We will talk to the CM later today. When he (KH Muniyappa) was here, we were affected by his style of functioning and faced hardship. There is a general feeling in the constituency that SC community is not being represented. We want a candidate from other than this family."

Many insiders opined that it was a strategic move by certain factions of Congress leaders in Kolar to exert pressure on Muniyappa and his involvement in "family politics."
After 3 MLAs and 2 MLCs protested against his son-in-law getting an election ticket from Kolar, Karnataka minister and Congress leader KH Muniyappa said, "I will abide by the Congress party's decisions. Let the party high command take the decision."
On the meeting with MLCs, Chairman of Legislative Council, Basavaraj Horatti said, "They (2 MLCs) came and met me with their resignation written on a white paper only. I told them to write the resignation on their letterhead and give it. They have not submitted their resignations. They said they would call me after 8 pm today."
