Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is set to intensify her electoral campaign in Karnataka on Tuesday, as she gears up to address public gatherings in Chitradurga and Bengaluru's HSR Layout. The timing of her campaign in the Bengaluru South constituency coincides with Union Minister Amit Shah's roadshow in the same LS segment, news agency PTI reported.
According to the Congress's Karnataka unit, Gandhi's first stop will be the Old Middle School ground in Chitradurga, where she is scheduled to address a public meeting at 3 pm. The Congress has pinned its hopes on 68-year-old B N Chandrappa to contest against BJP candidate Govind Karjol (73), a former deputy chief minister.
Following her engagement in Chitradurga, Priyanka Gandhi will head to Bengaluru to address another public meeting at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Play Ground in HSR Layout at 6 pm. This constituency falls under Bengaluru South, where she will rally support for Congress candidate and former MLA Sowmya Reddy, who is pitted against current BJP MP and Bharatiya Janata Party Youth Wing president Tejasvi Surya. Notably, Gandhi's visit overlaps with Home Minister Amit Shah’s roadshow in Swami Vivekananda Circle in Bengaluru South constituency during the evening, as per PTI.
In another electoral development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address a public meeting in Rajasthan's Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency on the same day. Shravan Singh Bagdi, the BJP's state general secretary, revealed that the Prime Minister will address a massive gathering in the Uniara area of Tonk district as per the proposed schedule, according to PTI. The BJP has fielded Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria from the Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency.
The electoral process in Rajasthan is unfolding in phases, with the first phase of polling for 12 Lok Sabha seats held on April 19. The remaining 13 seats are scheduled for the second phase on April 26.
