Lok Sabha Elections: The Congress on Monday released a list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. The grand old party has fielded Abhay Kashinath Patil from Akola, Maharashtra, and Kadiyam Kavya is set to contest from Warangal, Telangana.

Last week on Friday, the grand old party released its ninth list of five candidates for the polls. The party fielded CP Joshi from Rajasthan's Bhilwara and Damodar Gurjar is set to contest polls from Rajasthan's Rajsamand. After the release of the latest list, the total number of candidates declared by the party so far has reached 215.
Earlier, the Congress had released its eight list of candidates for the upcoming polls. The list included candidates fielded in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh which will go to polls starting April 19. In Jharkhand, the Congress has named Kalicharan Munda from Khunti, Sukhdeo Bhagat from Lohardaga and Jai Prakashbhai Patel from Hazaribagh.

Meanwhile, in a first show of strength by the Opposition, the prominent leaders of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc comprising 18 major paties came together at the 'Loktantra Bachao' (Save Democracy) rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital, and slammed the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and gave a fervent call to the alliance partners to unite in national interest.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases starting from April 19 and go on till June 1. The votes will be counted on June 4.
