Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 3 Voting HIGHLIGHTS: Please follow the space for all the updates pertaining to the third phase of polling in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. 

Voting began in 92 constituencies across 11 states and Union Territories on Tuesday in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Over 1,300 candidates, including approximately 120 women, contesting in this phase. Among the notable contenders are Union ministers Amit Shah, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Mansukh Mandaviya, alongside former chief ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Digvijaya Singh.

The states witnessing polling today include Assam (4 seats), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (7), Goa (2), Gujarat (25), Karnataka (14), Madhya Pradesh (8), Maharashtra (11), Uttar Pradesh (10), West Bengal (4), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2). Among the key candidates are Union ministers Amit Shah, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Rupala, Pralhad Joshi, and SP Singh Baghel.

According to the data released by the EC, voting turnout rises to 25.41 per cent at 11 am. More than 26 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the first four hours of polling for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The state witnessed 26.12 per cent polling till 11 am in the third phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha election.

While Agra witnessed 25.87 per cent polling, Aonla recorded a 25.98-per cent voter turnout, Budaun 26.02 per cent, Bareilly 23.6 per cent, Etah 27.17 per cent, Fatehpur Sikri 27.63 per cent, Firozabad 24.42 per cent, Hathras 26.05 per cent, Mainpuri 25.13 per cent and Sambhal 29.55 per cent, the Election Commission (EC) said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah cast their votes in Gujarat as BJP seeks to retain its dominance in the state. The saffron party aims to replicate its previous successes, with the Prime Minister exercising his franchise at a booth in Nishan Public School in Ranip locality, while Shah will vote at Naranpura sub-zonal office.

The third phase also witnessed intense campaigning, with the BJP and Congress engaging in heated exchanges. Prime Minister Modi and other BJP leaders focused on issues of social justice, while Congress leaders targeted the BJP over allegations of favoritism and wealth distribution.

Accusing BJP of 'fear-mongering', Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said, "BJP is now feeling that the ground beneath their feet is slipping away, and that is why Narendra Modi is making such baseless statements. Making repeated references to Pakistan in the Indian elections shows that they are fearful of their defeat in the ongoing elections...Making multiple references to Pakistan only shows that he has relations with Pakistan." LS Polls 2024 Phase 3 Live Updates: Over Rs 37 Cr Worth Of Cash, Contraband Seized Since Enforcement Of MCC In Haryana

Law enforcement agencies have seized about Rs 37 crore in drugs, liquor, unaccounted for cash, and other valubles in Haryana since the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into effect on March 16.

The Election Commission along with other enforcement agencies are continuously keeping a strict vigil on the movement of illicit liquor, drugs, and cash, Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Agarwal said on Tuesday.

Till now, Rs 7.24 crore in cash has been seized. Apart from this, illicit liquor, drugs, and other valuables worth Rs 30.05 crore have also been seized, he said, according to an official statement.

The figure is much higher than the value of items seized in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections of 2014 and 2019, it said.

Among the seizures was 3.87 lakh litres of illicit liquor and narcotics worth Rs 12.55 crore. (PTI Input)
