Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday took a sip of water from the Yamuna in Delhi's Palla village as he slammed Delhi CM Atishi amid AAP's allegations of poisonous water being sent in Yamuna from Haryana. He said the "water from Haryana is not poisonous, but your minds are certainly filled with poison". This comes as tensions continue to flare in the national capital ahead of the Assembly polls over AAP's allegations against the BJP-led sate regarding poisonous Yamuna water with ammonia being sent into Delhi.

After taking a sip of water from the Yamuna, Saini said: "An unfortunate statement by Arvind Kejriwal was given to create fear in the minds of people for his political benefits. Today, I have come here to the banks of River Yamuna and took a sip of water from Yamuna. He said that the BJP Govt of Haryana has poisoned the Yamuna River. He spoke about mass genocide. The water resource authority took samples from here and no poison was found in the water. Arvind Kejriwal has lied all his life."

Saini had hit out at Atishi after the Delhi CM, in a post on X today, requested that both of them go together and measure the levels of ammonia at the Palla Ghat of Yamuna River for "everyone to know that Haryana is sending poisonous water to Delhi". Palla Ghat in Delhi is where the river from Haryana enters the national capital.
"I have come to know that you are going to the Palla Ghat of the Yamuna River. I request that you and I go together, along with media representatives. We will measure the ammonia levels in front of everyone. Everyone should know that Haryana is sending poisonous water to the people of Delhi," Atishi said in a post on X.
Reacting to this, the Haryana CM replied that she was welcome to the Palla village, but reiterated that water coming from Haryana is not poisonous. He further lashed out at the AAP-led government in Delhi for blaming Haryana for its "failures", including water shortages, stubble burning, and now Yamuna pollution.
"Welcome, Chief Minister Atishi Marlena Ji, to the Yamuna bank of Palla village, wearing the sandals of disaster. The water coming from Haryana to Delhi is not poisonous, but your minds are certainly filled with poison. You always keep blaming the people of Haryana—sometimes for water shortages, sometimes for stubble smoke, and sometimes for all your failures," Nayab Singh Saini retorted.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rally in Delhi's Kartar Nagar, hit out at Kejriwal for AAP's "disgusting allegations", saying that the "people from 'AAP-da' have got rattled".
He said that the water sent by Haryana is consumed by everyone in Delhi, including the Prime Minister himself. "Such fear of losing that they are saying anything. I am sure Delhi will teach a lesson to people who say such things. in aapda walon ki llutiya Yamuna mein hi doobegi ('AAPda will drown in Yamuna)," PM Modi said.
The Yamuna Controversy
The row began after Atishi and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann moved the Election Commission on Monday, January 27, alleging the presence of high ammonia leves in the water supplied from Haryana to Delhi. Following this, Arvind Kejriwal accused the Haryana government of "poisoning" the Yamuna River water, which is the source of drinking water for people in Delhi.
He claimed that BJP wants to commit a “mass murder" of the people of Delhi by "mixing poison in the water and sending it to Delhi".
The Haryana CM has strongly dismissed these allegations, accusing the AAP supremo of making baseless claims and slammed Kejriwal for "levelling allegations and running away". He had also accused the AAP-led government of "mismanagement and misrule" which cause problems for Delhi residents.
On Tuesday, the BJP demanded that the ECI bar Kejriwal from campaigning for the Delhi polls following his allegations against Haryana government. A BJP delegation comprising Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva, Haryana CM Saini, and Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Bhupender Yadav, met the ECI, seeking an apology from Kejriwal. They also demanded that the former Delhi CM retract his statement and apologise for causing public panic as they called for a legal action against Kejriwal.
The Election Commission on Tuesday then sought factual evidence from the Aam Aadmi Party regarding their allegations against Haryana. The poll body has sought proof regarding the nature and extent of chemical being alleged in the water, and its potential to cause mass casualties. It has also asked to provide proof regarding the claim that the engineers from the Delhi Jal Board detected and prevented the contamination of Yamuna water before it reached Delhi's water supply.
