Around 2.03 crore voters will decide the fate of 1,031 candidates as the state goes for polling in Haryana to elect representatives for its 90 Assembly constituencies. Voting will be held from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Out of the total candidates, 101 are women and 464 are contesting as Independents.

Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal said 2,03,54,350 voters, including 8,821 centurions, are eligible to cast ballots. Out of the total voters, 1,07,75,957 are men, 95,77,926 are women, and 467 are transgenders. 2,31,093 voters are above the age of 85 years, while 8,821 voters aged over 100.

The key parties in fray for the Haryana Assembly elections are BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, INLD-BSP, and JJP-Azad Samaj Party.

Prominent candidates include Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini (Ladwa), Leader of Opposition Hooda (Garhi Sampla-Kiloi), BJP's Anil Vij (Ambala Cantt), INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala (Ellenabad), Capt Abhimanyu (Narnaund) and O P Dhankar (Badli), JJP's Dushyant Chautala (Uchana Kalan), AAP's Anurag Dhanda (Kalayat), and Congress's Vinesh Phogat (Julana).

BJP has fielded former CM late Bhajan Lal's grandson Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur segment in Hisar. Arti Rao, whose father Rao Inderjit Singh is a Union Minister, has been nominated from Ateli in Mahendragarh.

The list of independent candidates include Savitri Jindal (Hisar), Ranjit Chautala (Rania) and Chitra Sarwara (Ambala Cantt).

A total of 20,632 polling booths have been set up across the state for voting. Of these, 3,460 polling booths have been classified as critical, and 138 have been deemed vulnerable.

 More than 30,000 police personnel and 225 paramilitary companies have been deployed to ensure peace in the state. Additionally, 186 interstate and 215 intra-state checkpoints have been established, where police teams will regularly monitor all the movements closely.

A total of 27,866 Electronic Voting Machines (ballot units) including reserved units, will be used in the election. Voters will also be able to verify their vote on the VVPAT machine.

In the 2019 assembly polls, Haryana recorded 68 per cent voter turnout. Haryana Assembly elections 2024 results will be announced on October 8.

Haryana Elections LIVE: 54.3% Voter Turnout Till 4 PM, Yamunanagar Sees High Voting

Haryana has recorded 54.3 per cent voting till 4 pm. Yamunanagar has seen the highest voting turnout at 63% voting, while Faridabad sees lowest turnout.
