After Delhi Debacle, Arvind Kejriwal To Meet Punjab CM Mann And MLAs Tomorrow

After AAP's defeat in Delhi elections, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP MLAs is expected to meet Arvind Kejriwal to discuss the outcome.

Days after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) being routed from Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal is expected to meet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the AAP MLAs of the state on Tuesday.

As per the sources, there will be a discussion on recently concluded Delhi assembly elections. The AAP unit of Punjab has played an important role in Delhi elections. However, after the party's defeat in Delhi, the opposition has also become aggressive on the Punjab government.

In Delhi elections 2025, BJP ended the decade long rule of the AAP, after getting the majority in the 70-member assembly. While BJP secured a decisive 48 seats, AAP was reduced to 22. The grand old party Congress, which once ruled Delhi for 15 years, drew empty handed again.

AAP convenor Kejriwal, who contested from New Delhi constituency, lost to BJP's Parvesh Verma, in the heated battle. Verma defeated Kejriwal by 4,089 votes, whereas Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit won 4,568 votes, finishing third.

Among other prominent AAP leaders who lost the elections include former Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Somnath Bharti and deputy speaker Rakhi Birla.

Manish Sisodia lost to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by merely 675 votes. AAP had fielded Sisodia, a three-time Patparganj MLA, from Jangpura this time in a gamble to fight anti-incumbency.

Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj was defeated by BJP leader Shikha Roy by 3,188 votes Bharadwaj has been a three-time MLA and was also a minister in Kejriwal's cabinet, holding portfolios of home, health, power, and urban development.

Another key candidate of AAP, Somnath Bharti, lost to the BJP leader Satish Upadhyay, a former councillor, by 2,131 votes. It was an unexpected loss as Bharti had been the sitting MLA from Malviya Nagar since 2013.

Another prominent AAP leader who lost was Rakhi Birla. A three-time Mangol Puri MLA, Birla was fielded from the Madipur-SC seat in this year's elections. However, she lost to the BJP’s Kailash Gangwal by 10,899 votes.
