Congress Focused On Looting Manipur, Encouraged Separatism: PM Modi Hits Out At Oppn

Addressing a virtual rally, PM Modi said that the Congress party did not work for the development of Manipur and encouraged separatism.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people of Manipur in a virtual rally, two days ahead of the last phase of the state assembly elections. PM Modi lauded the voters of the first phase and said that Manipur has created a record yesterday by blessing BJP with a huge number of votes.

He further said, "In the second phase too, the people of Manipur are going to vote for development."

Hitting at the opposition PM Modi said that the Congress party did not work for the development of Manipur and encouraged separatism. The people of Manipur have to be aware of this. He said, "BJP works for the development of the Northeast, especially Manipur. This is destroying their plans of divide and rule."

Listing out the efforts the saffron party is making for the people of Manipur, PM Modi said that the BJP government is running several unifying initiatives such as 'Go to Hills, Go to Village' - which is defeating their separatist propagandas. It is destroying Congress as well. For us, Manipur and Northeast is the centre of India's unity.

Taking a swipe at the rivals, PM Modi said, "Congress party focused on looting Manipur. They were so involved in looting the state that they never had time to work for people. The leaders of BJP stay among Manipuri people and work with them for their growth."

He added, "Manipur was waiting for its first train, since independence. BJP did the work of starting train services in the state and connected Manipur to India's railway network. New railway lines are also being built, furthering the layout and connectivity."

Focusing on the athletes from the northeastern states, PM Modi said that for the development of sports in Manipur,  the BJP government is building a Sports University in the state. Manipur is now being identified by skill, startups & sports. Start-Up Manipur is showing good results. In the future, BJP government is set to build a Rs 100 crore start-up fund as well.

Reiterating his goal of making India self-reliant, PM Modi said, "We are also planning to build an AIIMS in Manipur, This is the time of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This decade is the decade of development and progress and Manipur is moving fast in this direction today."
