CISF Guard Slaps Kangana Ranaut At Chandigarh Airport, BJP MP Says 'Concerned About Terrorism In Punjab'

The actor has demanded strict action against the guard, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, for the incident. Ranaut, who recently won the Lok Sabha poll, was on her way to Delhi when the incident occurred.

Bollywood Actor and BJP's newly elected MP from Himachal's Mandi seat Kangana Ranaut was slapped by a CISF guard at Chandigarh Airpot allegedly over her remarks on farmers' protests. The actor has demanded strict action against the guard, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, for the incident. Ranaut, who recently won the Lok Sabha election, was on her way to Delhi when the incident occurred. In response to the incident, Ranaut said she was hit on the face, and abused. She is safe but "concerned about terrorism in Punjab". 

Reports indicated that the MP-elect from Mandi was slapped at the security check for pushing a security personnel after she refused to put her phone in the tray during the check. Ranaut left for Delhi at 3 PM on a Vistara flight. 

Reacting to the incident, Ranaut said, "I was hit on the face, abused; I am safe but concerned about terrorism in Punjab". 

"CISF Commandant has called me, I am going to the airport for investigation. I will Commandant CISF and let you know," DSP Punjab Police, KS Sandhu told reporters. 

The incident happened days after Ranaut won the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. The National Award-winning actor defeated Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes, according to the Election Commission website. 

Ranaut received 5,37,022 votes in her first Lok Sabha election as a political leader. Ten candidates contested the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, which has 13, 77, 173 voters. The voter turnout was 73.15 per cent. 

"Heartfelt gratitude to all the people of Mandi for this love and trust... This victory belongs to all of you, this is the victory of your trust in Prime Minister Modi and BJP, this is the victory of Sanatan and in the honour of Mandi," Ranaut wrote on social media before her victory was declared.

"Mandi ki sansad," Ranaut captioned her post on X. 

Ranaut made her acting debut at the age of 17. She has worked with many notable directors in the industry including Anurag Basu in his film "Gangster" and earned accolades for her performances in films like "Queen", "Tanu Weds Manu", "Manikarnika", and "Fashion" among others.
