Rahul Gandhi Says MVA To Analyse 'Strange' Maharashtra Results, Himanta Biswa Says Jharkhand Loss 'Painful'

While the Mahayuti alliance swept Maharashtra, leaving the Maha Vikas Aghadi shocked by the "unexpected" results, the NDA could not win over the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Jharkhand.

Assembly Elections 2024: The results for both the Maharashtra and the Jharkhand Assembly elections were announced on Saturday. While the Mahayuti alliance swept Maharashtra, leaving the Maha Vikas Aghadi shocked by the "unexpected" results, the NDA could not win over the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Jharkhand.

After winning the Maharashtra elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Mahayuti are preparing to hold a grand celebration at the party headquarters in Delhi. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren along with his wife Kalpana Soren visited party chief Shibu Soren in Ranchi to take his blessings.

BJP workers take out a victory march in Jamner after BJP candidate Girish Mahajan won from the Jamner Assembly seat and to celebrate Mahayuti's victory in Maharashtra.

Mahayuti's Reaction On The 'Maha' Victory In Maharashtra Elections

Following Mahayuti's victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the voters in the state for supporting the alliance and for helping them achieve a historic mandate.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote: "The victory of development! The victory of good governance! Together we will take an even bigger leap."

"Heartfelt thanks to my brothers and sisters in Maharashtra, especially the youth and women of the state, for giving Raloa a historic mandate. This love and intimacy is incomparable. I assure the public that our alliance will continue to work for the progress of Maharashtra," he added.

The BJP alone has secured 133 seats while the Shiv Sena and NCP have bagged 57 and 41 seats respectively. The Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) have won 20, 15, and 10 seats respectively, the Election Commission data stated.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde congratulated the people of Maharashtra for supporting the Mahayuti. He also thanked PM Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah for the support.

"Everyone congratulated me, I thank them. I also thank the people of Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah... The double engine government was working here and development work took place here, the central government also supported us..."

"I thank the voters of Maharashtra. This is a landslide victory. I had said before that Mahayuti will get a thumping victory. I thank all sections of the society. I also thank all the workers of the Mahayuti parties," the Maharashtra CM said, thanking voters and workers of the alliance.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar attributed the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana' as the reason behind Mahayuti's success. He asserted that he would continue to work for the development of the state.

"Some of the schemes like Ladki Bahin yojana have played a major role in our victory...I want to thank my voters for once again giving me this responsibility...I will continue working for the development of the state for the next five years," he said.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that the people of Maharashtra have understood the meaning of PM's 'Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai' slogan, following which they voted in Mahyuti's favour.

"After Haryana, Maharashtra's victory is a big one...the people of Maharashtra have woken up and have understood what PM Modi said 'Ek Hai To Safe Hai'. We are sad that we could not win the Jharkhand assembly elections but Maharashtra's victory has shown the trust between the people and the government," he said.

MVA's Reaction On Maharashtra Results

The Congress has once again cried foul play in the vote counting process after the MVA failed to win the Maharashtra polls.

Addressing a presser, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the party will analyse the results as they did not expect this outcome from Maharashtra.

"We will definitely analyse the result that has come. But today we can say that even those who won did not anticipate that this result would come. We were assuming that we will get the mandate. The farmers of Maharashtra are angry, the working class of Maharashtra is against the government. And the atmosphere that was there in Maharashtra 4-5 months ago, the same atmosphere is there today too, we were assuming this and everyone accepted this," he said.

Hinting at a "conspiracy" to defeat the MVA, Jairam Ramesh called the results "absolutely strange". "But the results that have come are completely opposite to this. But this does not mean that we will step back from our agenda... somewhere there is a conspiracy to defeat us... The result of Maharashtra is very strange, I cannot use any other word for it, it is absolutely strange," the Congress MP said.

LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also said that the party will analyse the results in depth. "The results of Maharashtra are unexpected and we will analyse them in detail," he stated in a post on X.

"Thanks to all the voter brothers and sisters of the state for their support and to all the workers for their hard work," he added.

Congress leader Pawan Khera expressed doubt over the results and Mahayuti's win in the state, saying that the party is concerned about electoral transparency.

"The Lok Sabha election was fought in the name of Modi ji in Maharashtra, BJP lost it. The same state gives the same BJP 132 out of 148 seats within 4-5 months. What kind of strike rate is this? ...Is this strike rate possible? Democracy is our concern. Electoral transparency is our concern. Can the BJP reverse anti-incumbency?" he said during a press conference on Saturday.

Khera further said that the MVA had filed numerous complaints to the EC but the poll body did not respond. He stressed that the Congress will continue the election process irrespective of whether it loses or wins in the polls.

"We complained continuously. Jairam Ramesh had complained about the name being deleted from the Election Commission's website from the house of a woman BJP leader. All the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi had complained. No answer was given...Whether we win or lose, we will continue to question the election process. In a country where exam papers are leaked, can we blindly trust the machines? You cannot shut us up by showing the results of Jharkhand. To date, apart from the poetry, we have not received any concrete answer from the Election Commission," he added.

INDIA Bloc's Reaction On Jharkhand Poll Results

JMM leader and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren thanked the people of the state, including farmers, women, and the youth, fir voting for the party. He also thanked PM Modi for congratulating him on the victory.

"Today the results of the #JharkhandAssemblyElection2024 have come...I want to thank the people of all communities and all the farmers, women and youth of the state for casting their votes with the majority and making this election successful...I also thank all the leaders who were there in the field and took the power of democracy to the people...We are waiting for the complete result which will be soon announced...After that, we will take a further decision...The INDIA alliance performance has been very good, I have come to know this...I want to thank you all for the support," Soren, who won the Barhait seat, said.

Congress's Rahul Gandhi thanked voters for the "huge mandate" and also congratulated the workers of Congress and JMM for the victory.

"Heartfelt thanks to the people of Jharkhand for giving a huge mandate to India. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji, all the workers of Congress and JMM for this victory," Gandhi tweeted.

"This victory of the alliance in the state is a victory of the protection of water, forest and land along with the Constitution," he added.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren along with his wife and party leader Kalpana Soren arrived at the residence of JMM national president Shibu Soren in Ranchi.

"Mata-Pita ka ashirwad sar pe rahana chahiye..Today I have taken the blessings of my parents," Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren said.

Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the INDIA bloc has secured victory in Jharkhand with a huge margin. He also expressed hope of winning the Bihar Assembly elections in 2025.

"We have won 4 seats in Jharkhand and lost 1 or 2 seats by a very narrow margin. Hemant Soren has become the Chief Minister of Jharkhand with a huge majority. We thank him as well. As far as the Bihar by-election is concerned, we have won all four Lok Sabha seats on which elections were held. We lost the 2024 by-elections, we will win in 2025... A grand alliance government is sure to be formed in Bihar in 2025... After Jharkhand, it is Bihar's turn... We ensure that at any cost, an NDA government will not be formed in Bihar," he said.

NDA On Jharkhand Assembly Results

Prime Minister Modi thanked the voters in Jharkhand for voting in favour of the BJP. He emphasised that despite the defeat, he would always continue to work for the people of Jharkhand. PM Modi also congratulated Hemant Soren on the winning the polls.

"I thank the people of Jharkhand for their support towards us. We will always be at the forefront of raising people’s issues and working for the state. I also congratulate the JMM-led alliance for their performance in the state," PM Modi wrote in a post on X.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was displeased by the Jharkhand results, said that the NDA's loss in the state feels "deeply painful".

"The loss in Jharkhand is deeply painful for me personally, even though we secured victory in all five by-elections in Assam. I have witnessed the unwavering dedication and relentless efforts of our Karyakartas in Jharkhand, who gave their all in this election. We fought with a vision to protect the state from infiltration and to lead it on the path of development, fulfilling the aspirations of students and youth.

"However, we must humbly accept the mandate of the people, for that is the true essence of democracy. In these challenging times, we will stand firmly with our Karyakartas, offering them unwavering support and solidarity," he added.

Himanta Biswa had campaigned in Jharkhand ahead of the Assembly polls. Later, in a post on X, he had also congratulated the JMM leader Hemant Soren and his allies on winning Jharkhand elections,
