Delhi Police Records 180 MCC Violation Cases; Seizes Illegal Arms, Drugs Worth Rs 12 Cr Ahead Of Polls
From January 7 to 14, police confiscated 123 illegal firearms, 92 cartridges, 19,881 litres of liquor, and 59.5 kilograms of drugs valued at over Rs 12 crore.
In total 180 cases of alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have been registered by Delhi Police from January 7 to January 14 in the national capital ahead of the assembly election 2025, an official stated on Wednesday.
In order to uphold law and order, preventive measures led to the arrest of 7,454 individuals under various provisions, including the Excise Act, news agency PTI cites the official statement.
Surveillance around inter-state border checkpoints and crackdowns on illegal activities have been intensified by the police. The statement further read that vigilance towards the smuggling of arms, liquor, and drugs from January 7 to 14 has also increased.
