Sheohar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Rama Devi from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 136239 votes. The polling / voting in Sheohar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Rama Devi and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Syed Fasal Ali

Sheohar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sheohar, 13 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Rama Devi of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Md Anwarul Haque by a margin of 136239 votes.

• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 73883 votes RJD candidate Sitaram Singh had got 303243 while BJP got Mohammad Anwarul Haq votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Rashtriya Janata Dal and BPSP here Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate defeated his BPSP counterpart with a difference of 2535 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, AIRJP candidate had defeated SAP candidate by a margin of 93144 votes AIRJP candidate Anand Mohan had got 289830 while SAP got Hari Kishore Singh votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, SAP candidate defeated JD candidate with a difference of 40637 votes. Here, SAP leader Anand Mohan attained 334994 votes and JD candidate Ram Chandra Purve bagged 294357 votes
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated JP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Hari Kishore Singh attained 311178 votes and JP's Raghunath Jha bagged 151242 votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Hari Kishor Singh attained 463687 votes and INC's Madhureendra Kumar Singh bagged 149212 votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 80553 votes INC candidate Ram Dulari Singh had got 254881 while JNP got Hari Kishor Singh votes.
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 51392 votes INC(I) candidate Ram Dulari Singh had got 174188 while INC(U) got Hari Kishore Singh votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 67029 votes BLD candidate Thakur Girjanandan Singh had got 241672 while INC got Hari Kishore Singh votes.

ओडिशा में मतगणना से पहले प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष निरंजन पटनायक ने स्वीकार किया कि कांग्रेस राज्य में अपने दम पर सरकार नहीं बना पाएगी और वह अपना विपक्ष का दर्जा भी गंवा सकती है. पटनायक का बयान यह संकेत देता है कि ओडिशा में बीजेडी और बीजेपी के बीच सीधा मुकाबला है. उनके इस बयान के बाद कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता इस स्थिति के लिए पार्टी प्रदेश नेतृत्व पर खुलेआम आरोप लगाने लगे. पटनायक ने कहा, ‘‘हम (कांग्रेस) राज्य में अपने बल पर सरकार नहीं बना पाएंगे. यद्यपि हमारा प्रदर्शन 2014 से बेहतर होगा.’’
