Background

Rewa: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Janardan Mishra from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 168726 votes. The polling / voting in Rewa constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Janardan Mishra and Congress Party#s Siddharth tiwari

Rewa 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 27 out of the 29 parliamentary seat with 54 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just 2 seats with a 34.9 percent vote share.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate by a margin of 64151 votes INC candidate Sunder Lal Tiwari had got 275115 while BSP got Ramalakhan Singh Patel votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate by a margin of 68973 votes BJP candidate Chandramani Tripathi had got 276367 while BSP got Bhim Singh Patel votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 12382 votes. Here, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Buddha Hasen Patel attained 158379 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Parveen Kumari bagged 145997 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 14316 votes. Here, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Bheem Singh Patel attained 145373 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Shriniwas Tiwari bagged 131057 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 74756 votes JD candidate Yamuna Prasad Shastri had got 215420 while INC got Pravin Kumari votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Martand Singh attained 223619 votes and JNP's Yamuna Prasad Shastri bagged 106790 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, IND candidate Maharaja Martand Singh attained 294234 votes and JNP's Yamuna Prasad Shastri bagged 55883 votes.

  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Independent candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, IND candidate Maharaja Martand Singh attained 259136 votes and INC's Shambhu Nath Shukla bagged 59442 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SSP candidate by a margin of 57839 votes INC candidate S.N. Shukla had got 140468 while SSP got M. Singh votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SOC candidate with a difference of 14175 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Shiv Dutta attained 56616 votes and SOC candidate Achhelal Singh bagged 42441 votes
