Background

Nanded: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ashok Shankarrao Chavan from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 81455 votes. The polling / voting in Nanded constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Pratap Patil Chikkalikar and Congress Party#s Ashok chavan

Nanded 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 23 out of the 48 parliamentary seat with 27.3 percent vote share while the Shiv Sena managed to win just 18 seats with a 20.6 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 60.07% Lok Sabha percent with 62.60% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 57.32% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 3155 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 23 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Nanded, 21 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Ashok Shankarrao Chavan of the Indian National Congress as he defeated D. B. Patil by a margin of 81455 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 24335 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader D. B. Patil attained 361282 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Khatgaonkar Bhaskarrao Bapurao bagged 336947 votes
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 32575 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Khatgaonkar Bhaskarrao Bapurao attained 327293 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Dr Dhanajirao Vyankatrao Deshmukh bagged 294718 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 47287 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Patil Bhaskarrao Bapurao attained 337744 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Dr. Dhanajirao Deshmukh bagged 290457 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 11936 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kunturkar Gangadharrao Mohanrao Deshmukh attained 185302 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Dhanajirao Venkatrao Deshmukh bagged 173366 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Shiv Sena candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Suryakants Patil (W) attained 251021 votes and SHS's D.R. Deshmukh bagged 118659 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 24113 votes. Here, JD leader Kabde Venkatesh Rukhmaji attained 278320 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Ashok Shankarrao Chavan bagged 254207 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated ICS candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Chavan Shankarrao Bhurao attained 306026 votes and ICS's Kadam Kamalkishor Nanasaheb bagged 134502 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PWP candidate with a difference of 37542 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Chavan Shankarrao Bhaurao attained 195010 votes and PWP candidate Dhondge Keshavrao Shankarrao bagged 157468 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, PWP candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, PWP candidate Dhondge Keshavrao Shankarrao attained 253736 votes and INC's Mhaisekar Govindrao Ramchandra bagged 119916 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated RPK candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Venkatrao Babarao Tarodekar attained 215848 votes and RPK's Yeshwant Bhimrao Ambedkar bagged 85757 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated RPI candidate with a difference of 48005 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader V. B. Tarodekar attained 147868 votes and RPI candidate Y. R. Athwale bagged 99863 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated REP candidate by a margin of 59242 votes INC candidate Tulshidas Subhanrao Jadhav had got 139217 while REP got Jagannath Shivling Vibhute votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PSP candidate with a difference of 45193 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kamble Deorao Namdeo attained 177275 votes and PSP candidate Kabra Vijendra bagged 132082 votes
