Background

Kurnool: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Butta Renuka from YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) won the elections by a margin of 44131 votes. The polling / voting in Kurnool constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy and YSR Congress Party#s DR Sanjeev Kumar

Kurnool 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Kurnool Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 71.92% Lok Sabha percent with 73.74% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 70.11% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 9385 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 12 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Kurnool, 10 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Butta Renuka of the YSR Congress Party as he defeated B.T. Naidu by a margin of 44131 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy attained 433529 votes and TDP's Kambalapadu Ediga Krishnamurthi bagged 332431 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 24487 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Kambhalapati E. Krishna Murthy attained 385688 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy bagged 361201 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 12836 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy attained 368044 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate K.E.Krishnamurthy bagged 355208 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 32819 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy attained 323208 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate S.V.Subba Reddy bagged 290389 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 52467 votes INC candidate K. Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy had got 302352 while TDP got S.V. Subba Reddy votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kotla Vijay Bhaskara Reddy attained 363955 votes and TDP's Erasu Ayyapu Reddy bagged 253537 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Telugu Desam Party and Indian National Congress here Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 7290 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate K. Vijayabhaskara Reddi attained 231889 votes and JNP's Nasir Ahmed bagged 27040 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BLD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate K. Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy attained 270741 votes and BLD's Somappa bagged 71385 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated SWA candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kodanda Rami Reddy attained 270697 votes and SWA's Y. Gadiingana Gowdu bagged 29344 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 10783 votes. Here, SWA leader Y. G. Linganagowda attained 160080 votes and INC candidate D. Sanjeevayya bagged 149297 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 36914 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Yasoda Reddy attained 121999 votes and IND candidate Mukkamala Venkatasubba Reddy bagged 85085 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 67279 votes INC candidate Osman Ali Khan had got 81621 while IND got B.R. Bhima Rao votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 13013 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader H. Sitharama Reddy attained 70887 votes and IND candidate Y. Gadilingana Goud bagged 57874 votes
