Karakat: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Upendra Kushwaha from Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) won the elections by a margin of 105241 votes. The polling / voting in Karakat constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Mahabali Singh and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party#s Upendra Kushwaha

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Karakat Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 50.31% Lok Sabha percent with 53.63% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karakat, 13 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Upendra Kushwaha of the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party as he defeated Kanti Singh by a margin of 105241 votes.

बीजेपी के कैलाश विजयवर्गीय ने कहा कि टीएमसी के नेता का बयान था कि चालीस विधायक तो क्या 4 भी नहीं आएंगे, लेकिन आपके सामने 3 विधायक और 50 से ज्यादा कारपोरेटर मौजूद हैं. इसी तरह सात चरणों मे विधायकों को पार्टी में शामिल किया जाएगा लेकिन उन्हीं को लिया जाएगा जो बीजेपी में आने के योग्य होंगे.

पश्चिम बंगाल से 3 विधायकों ने बीजेपी ज्वॉइन कर ली है. इसमें तृणमूल कांग्रेस के शुभ्रांशु रॉय और तुषार कांति भट्टाचार्य के नाम हैं. शुभ्रांशु रॉय मुकुल रॉय के बेटे हैं. वहीं एक सीपीएम विधायक जिनका नाम देवेंद्र रॉय है वो भी आज बीजेपी में शामिल हो गए हैं. इसके अलावा कचरपडा के नगरपालिका चेयरमैन समेत 40 पार्षद भी बीजेपी में शामिल हो गए हैं.
