Jammu: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Jugal Kishore from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 257280 votes. The polling / voting in Jammu constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Jugal Kishore Sharma and Congress Party#s Raman bhalla

Jammu 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 3 out of the 6 parliamentary seat with 34.4 percent vote share while the Jammu & Kashmir People's Democratic Party managed to win just 3 seats with a 20.5 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Jammu Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 67.83% Lok Sabha percent with 68.09% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 67.54% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 4382 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 19 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jammu, 17 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Jugal Kishore of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Madan Lal Sharma by a margin of 257280 votes.

Here, Indian National Congress leader Madan Lal Sharma attained 319994 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Dr. Nirmal Singh bagged 302426 votes
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Jammu & Kashmir National Conference candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Vishno Datt Sharma attained 289412 votes and JKN's Rajinder Singh Chib bagged 147393 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Jammu & Kashmir National Conference candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Vaid Vishno Dutt attained 336472 votes and JKN's Janak Raj Gupta bagged 208571 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 46733 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Mangat Ram Sharma attained 194228 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Vaid Vishno Dutt bagged 147495 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JD candidate with a difference of 21695 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Janak Rai Gupta attained 239701 votes and JD candidate Rajinder Singh Chib bagged 218006 votes

  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated JKN candidate with a difference of 27939 votes. Here, Independent leader Thakur Baldev Singh attained 153837 votes and JKN candidate Balraj Puri bagged 125898 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BJS candidate by a margin of 84796 votes INC candidate Inderjit Malhotra had got 169009 while BJS got Abdul Rehman votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BJS candidate by a margin of 58168 votes INC candidate I.J. Malhotra had got 139036 while BJS got A. Rehman votes.
