New Delhi: Weeks ahead of assembly elections in Delhi, the Returning Officer (RO) has issued a show-cause notice to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kapil Mishra over his tweet, saying the upcoming elections are a contest between India and Pakistan. The Election Commission has also sought a report from Delhi Chief Electoral Officer on BJP leader's controversial tweet. However, in his response to the notice issued to him, Mishra unabashedly defended his tweet and claimed that he was unafraid of speaking the truth.
In the tweet, Kapil Mishra had said, "India vs Pakistan 8th February Delhi. There will a contest on Delhi Roads between India and Pakistan on February 8." A report in this regard is required to be submitted within 24 hours.
According to sources, the Election Commission is mulling over strong action against BJP candidate Kapil Mishra. Earlier on Thursday, while speaking to ANI about his tweet, Mishra had said, 'Mini Pakistans' has been created at many places in Delhi. Shaheen Bagh is being replicated at various places. Other places like Inder Lok, Chand Bagh have also become mini Pakistan. Protesters are disturbing common people by blocking the road, shutting areas, schools, etc."सच बोलने में डर कैसा सत्य पर अडिग हूँ
