Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said that for cancelled exams, students will be promoted on the basis of internal assessment.
The decision has been taken considering the coronavirus situation in the state.
"All undergraduate and postgraduate exams, except those of final year or last semester, have been cancelled," the minister added.
The Deputy CM informed that the final year and last semester exams will be conducted by September 30, either through offline, online or mixed-mode by following set protocols.
"The results of undergraduate and postgraduate classes will be declared by October 15 and 31, respectively," the UP Deputy CM said.

"If any student could not appear for the last year/semester examinations, he will be given another chance. As per the convenience of the universities, another examination will be held for such students. This provision will be applicable for this academic year only," he added.
Several states have joined the call to cancel final year exams as well considering the coronavirus situation with many students not having the means to give online exams, however, the UGC has not budged to the demands.
The UGC released a statement writing, "182 have already conducted examination (online/offline), 234 are planning to conduct examination (online/offline/blended mode) in August/September, 38 are planning to conduct the examination as per the directions of the relevant statutory council(s) and 177 universities are yet to decide on the conduct of the examination."
UGC has requested all states to review and conduct the examinations by September 30 at their level. It has given three options - online, offline and a blended mode.
