In a statement on September 20, the DMRC had announced that the regular timings as per earlier time table will continue, i.e - the services will start at 8:00 AM on Phase 3 sections on Sundays. However, the trains will run from 6 AM onwards itself from terminal stations of all the lines to facilitate UPSC candidates. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed by the 20 aspirants seeking the deferment of the recruitment examination. The apex court bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar, Krishna Murari, and BR Gavai heard the petition and directed UPSC to file an affidavit citing the logical reasons for not postponing the examination. The bench also asked UPSC to consider and make special concessions for those aspirants who are on their last attempt. In the affidavit submitted by UPSC, they cited that postponing UPSC 2020, the exam of 2021 will be delayed as well. UPSC said that delay the declaration of the results of these examinations will thereby adversely affect the availability of manpower at critical posts of the Government.
