University of Bath Invites Applications For MSc Global Public Health And Policy

Interested candidates can apply for the programme till June 30, 2024, while the course is slated to begin in September 2024.

The University of Bath has started inviting applications for its MSc Global Public Health and Policy programme for the academic year 2024-25. The Master’s programme aims at inducting students who look forward to  gaining a deeper insight into major public health issues faced by humanity. The programme is ideal for students who wish to develop their knowledge into the public health domain and its related policy perspective by diving into geopolitical, social, and natural factors that impact public health and well-being.

By focusing on these root causes, the programme will help students explore the impact of policy at both the macro as well as micro level – learning to critically assess the intersection of policy and epidemiology using real-world cases. In the programme, students will be guided by real-world public health experts with deeper knowledge and industry connections spanning a range of public health and policy areas. Interested candidates may note that the last date to apply for the programme is June 30, 2024. The programme is scheduled to commence from September 2024.

 Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates interested in taking up the MSc Global Public Health and Policy programme at the University of Bath should typically have a Bachelor's degree, in an appropriate health subject, with a final overall result of at least First Class. Owing to the varying grading scales used by different institutions, candidates should upload a copy of the grading scale used by their institution, along with their transcript, while submitting their applications. Applicants with an undergraduate degree in other subjects with substantial relevant professional experience may also be considered for the programme.

While applying for the programme, applicants will also be required to submit a personal statement with details about their relevant academic qualification, why they want to pursue the course, and outlining their future aspirations. The English language requirements are a minimum of either a 6.5 IELTS score with no less than 6.0 in all components, a Pearson Test of English Academic score of 62 with no less than 62 in the writing element, and no less than 59 in all other elements, or a TOEFL IBT score of 90 overall with a minimum of 24 in the writing component and a minimum of 21 in all other components.

Students who have graduated within the last 5 years from an Indian university where the medium of instruction is English, and with at least 75% for English in their Indian 12th Standard examinations, may be able to submit evidence of this instead. Other accepted language qualifications are detailed on Bath's website.

Fee Structure:

Developed by the Department for Health, the fees for this course are £26,500 for Indian students starting in September 2024. Students pay a £1,000 deposit after receiving their offer, this will be deducted from tuition fees after registration. Students will also get an opportunity to work alongside research-active academics, as well as representatives from Centres and Groups across the Department of Social & Policy Sciences – all of which have strong links with health organizations across the globe. Students will be given the choice to do a Practice Track project as an alternative to a dissertation.

During the project, students will work on a consultancy or research-based project with one of Bath’s external partners across the public health industry (in the UK and overseas). They will conduct research, analyze data, and produce a written report and presentation with their solutions. Graduates are equipped with a strong grounding in public health and policy, and practical research skills, which are ideal for roles such as an epidemiologist or NGO aid worker.  Previous graduates have secured roles in the NHS or pursued further training in medicine.
