QS World University Ranking: JNU Ranks 1 In India, IIM-A Among World’s Top 25 For Management Studies

QS World University Ranking by Subjects has been released and JNU holds the 20th spot globally for Development Studies.

The QS World University Ranking by subject for 2024 has been released. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is India's highest-ranked university, in the 20th spot globally for Development Studies. Additionally, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad is among the top 25 Institutions around the globe for business and management studies, with IIM-Bangalore and Calcutta in the top 50.

Jindal Global Law School is ranked 1st in India in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024. Globally, JGLS has been ranked 72nd, making it the only law school in India to be featured among the top 100 in the world.

"I am extremely delighted to share the fantastic news that Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) has been ranked No. 1 in India for five years in a row in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024. Globally, JGLS has been ranked 72nd, making it the only law school in India to be featured among the TOP-100 in the world. This is indeed an Epochal moment for JGU and JGLS," said Professor (Dr.) C Raj Kumar, Founding VC of OP Jindal Global University.

"The QS subject rankings of this year show that among law schools in India, JGLS is followed by National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru (ranked 151-200), and the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi (ranked 201-250)," Professor (Dr.) C Raj Kumar added.

QS World Ranking ranks Universities worldwide based on various criteria such as academic reputation, International Faculty ratio and International Student ratio. QS Rankings are intended to reflect University performance for the next academic year. These rankings are regarded as one of the most widely read University rankings in the world.

QS  rankings provide a detailed evaluation of universities based on their performance in more than 50 specific academic disciplines like Business, Mathematics, Medicine, Law, and others, as well as their performance in five broad faculty areas, which include Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Jawaharlal Nehru University, JNU, has achieved a milestone in the global ranking. JNU has been on the list of the top 20 universities for development studies. Music is one of the fresh subjects to be added to this year's Global rankings, while the data science and artificial intelligence ranking has been expanded and has 51 new institutions included this year. US Universities are leading in 32 subjects, with Harvard University leading in 19 areas, making it the top-performing institution globally. Followed by MIT University, leading in 11 subjects.

This year's QS World University Ranking features 55 individual subjects across 5 main subject areas. Notably, the ranking includes a record of 1559 institutions with 64 universities, which were included for the first time. Among these fresh universities are 14 universities that are making their debut in the QS World University Ranking, such as Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), Osaka Metropolitan University, and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
