Punjab University Prepares To Reopen All Departments, Decision Taken In Management Meeting
Preparations are underway to reopen all departments of Punjab University. A meeting was held on Friday. Only a limited number of students will be allowed to stay in hostels because of Covid.
New Delhi: Preparations are underway to reopen all departments of Punjab University. A meeting was held regarding this on Friday. The committee constituted to review the situation decided to open more departments from November 1. The departments that will now open include the University Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Department National Centre for Human Genome Studies and Research, the Department of Computer Science and Applications, the Department of Engineering.

Department of Environmental Studies, Department of Mathematics, Department of Microbiology, Department of Statistics, Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology and University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development will be opened for eligible PG students. However, only a limited number of students will be allowed to stay in hostels in view of Covid. The consent of the parents has been made mandatory for this.

Advice for students:
Students have been advised to get corona vaccination and not to give negative RTPCR reports for more than 72 hours. Students will be allotted a room and rooms will be allotted on merit. Facilities like canteens, parlours, tailors and tuck shops in PU hostels will not be provided till further orders. No one from outside the hostel will be allowed to enter the PU hostel until the next orders. The university had to be closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
