Karnataka SSLC, PUC Exams 2021: No Exams In March, Focus On School Reopening, Says Education Minister

The board exams would not be conducted in March owing to lack of time as schools remained closed since lockdown and haven't yet opened, said the education minister S Suresh Kumar

In view of the current Covid-19 situation, Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar announced that the SSLC and PUC 2021 examinations will not be conducted in March. The Secondary School Leaving Certification (SSLC) and Pre-University Course or PUC Examinations are usually held in March in the state.  The education minister cleared doubts over SSLC and PUC Exam 2021 date while stating that the focus is to reopen schools and colleges in a safe manner. "The Department of Education is making all the preparations for reopening of schools and colleges ensuring that process is safe and sound. The SSLC and PUC exams will not take place in March 2021 due to the shortage of time," said Kumar. As per the news agency ANI, the minister also confirmed that SSLC 2021 and PUC Exam 2021 date sheet would be announced in a week from now after discussing with the department officials, schools and other stakeholders. This development comes amid the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announcement to postpone CBSE 10th 12th Board Exams 2021. This year, since schools have remained closed since lockdown  the board exams would not be conducted in March owing to lack of time. The Karnataka government had recently announced its decision to reopen the schools in the state from January 1, 2021. The schools would reopen from class 6th and upwards. Initially, students of Class 10 and 12 would be returning to schools. As for Class 6 onwards, the Vidyagama program would be put in place. Attendance will not be mandatory for students. The state government has also set up kiosks at the Kempegowda international airport to screen all passengers landing in the state from abroad.
