Kamal Nath Govt To Provide 70% Job Reservation In Private Sector For Locals In Madhya Pradesh

The Congress ruled Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday said that it will soon bring a law which will ensure 70 per cent reservation of private sector for local youths of the state.

Bhopal: The Congress ruled Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday said that it will soon bring a law which will ensure 70 per cent reservation of private sector for local youths of the state. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath made the announcement while speaking in the Assembly today. The Senior Congress leader, while replying to a question asked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodia, said that the proposed law will ensure that unemployed youth of the state gets adequate representation in the private sector. Sisodia also raised concern over fixing the age limit for employment of youths from outside the state and giving concessions to the local youths, the CM said that state government will not allow any injustice to youth, who were disappointed in the past due to high unemployment. "The government will soon make a law to end unemployment in the state and give local youths priority in the private sector," Nath said. "For many years, unemployed youths were subjected to injustice... On the very next day, I took oath as the Chief Minister I had announced that the youths of Madhya Pradesh would have to be given 70 per cent of the jobs by the private companies which would avail financial and other facilities from the government under the Industry Promotion Policy 2014 (as amended 2018)," CM added. The chief minister further said that the Madhya Pradesh government will soon bring in law to ensure 70 per cent reservation for domiciles of MP in all private jobs. Nath also said that the law will make it mandatory for both private and government sectors to give more employment to domiciles of MP. Kamal Nath informed the Assembly that his government issued an order to the Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion on December 19, 2018 which makes it mandatory to provide the permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh with 70 per cent of the total employment provided by these companies. "Only those companies which stick to the order will be able to avail benefits from the government," he said. Further justifying the move, Kamal Nath underlined that in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Bengal, competitive exams include a local language test due to which aspirants from many states including Madhya Pradesh cannot apply. The Congress party, in its manifesto for 2018 assembly elections, had assured a reservation for locals in jobs. Soon after taking over the CM office, Nath had announced the change in industry policies, which provided financial incentives to reserving 70 per cent of jobs in private sector for locals. This move by Congress-run government, was however dismissed by the BJP and was said be a gimmick.
