Uttarakhand CM Announces Job Reservations For Agniveers In Government Jobs

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Agniveers will be granted reservations in government jobs in Uttarakhand after their service in the armed forces, with new legislation to implement this reservation.

Dehradun: Agniveers will be granted reservations in government jobs in Uttarakhand after completing their service in the armed forces, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Friday, marking the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Speaking at a program to honor the armed forces personnel who valiantly defended the nation during the 1999 Kargil war, Dhami stated that new legislation would be introduced to implement this reservation.

"We will make provisions and bring an Act to give reservation to them in government services. We are working on this plan. We will make use of their skills and discipline in various government departments," news agency PTI quoted CM Dhami as saying.

Dhami also announced an increase in the aid extended to the families of martyrs from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.

"No sacrifice can be bigger than the act of laying down one's life to secure the country's borders. No grant or honour can be enough for this supreme sacrifice," he added.

Paying tributes to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war, Dhami emphasized the importance of strong political leadership in achieving victory.

Apart from the brave soldiers, he said the credit for India's victory in the Kargil war also goes to the political courage and farsighted leadership of the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"The same is true of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership the morale of the armed forces has gone up like never before," Dhami added.

He highlighted instances like the implementation of the OROP to demonstrate the prioritization of welfare measures for the armed forces under Modi's leadership. "Even today, he (Modi) is celebrating Vijay Diwas with our soldiers in the Dras sector," Dhami noted.
