Huge Number Of Students Participating In This ‘Gyan Kumbh’: Edu Minister Dharmendra Pradhan On Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam

Union Minister Of Education Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the NEP (National Education Policy) has focussed on providing education in our mother tongue.

Speaking on the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that a large number of students from all over the country are participating in this ‘Gyan Kumbh.’ He further said that the NEP has stressed on ensuring education for all in their mother tongues. Notably, PM Modi inaugurated the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam yesterday, July 29, 2023, commemorating the third anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020. At the event, the Prime Minister stressed on the importance of local language in education and also urged students to be from the “mentality of slavery” and strive for innovations in the next 25 years of the Amrit Kaal.

During the event, PM Modi also underlined the assessment of students on their language proficiency, overlooking their capabilities and potential as the greatest injustice to students, as reported by news agency PTI. At the event, While addressing the event, PM Modi said: “"The National Educational Policy will give due respect and credit to every language in the country.... Those who try to politicise language for their selfish interests will now have to shut their shops."

"Education in the mother tongue is initiating a new form of justice for students in India. It is also a very significant step towards social justice," he added further. Citing examples of developed countries during his speech, the Prime Minister also underlined how local languages promote and contribute to the overall development of a country. "As a result, children in the rural areas remain the most affected. The country has now begun to shun this belief with the advent of the NEP. Even at the United Nations, I speak in an Indian language," he added.

However, the Prime Minister also expressed concern of the popular attitude in India which relates a vast array of local or vernacular languages to backwardness. "As a result, children in the rural areas remain the most affected. The country has now begun to shun this belief with the advent of the NEP. Even at the United Nations, I speak in an Indian language," he said.
