Central Universities New VCs: President of India Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Vice-Chancellors of 12 central universities on Friday

Central Universities New VCs: President of India Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Vice-Chancellors of 12 central universities on Friday. With this, 12 out of 22 posts of Vice-Chancellor have been filled. The posts of VCs were vacant in these universities for a long time and the decision was taken keeping in mind all the guidelines mentioned by the University Grants Commission. 

Following are the name of the newly-appointed VCs of Central Universities:

  1. Prof (Dr) Tankeshwar Kumar - Central University of Haryana
  2. Prof Sat Prakash Bansali - Central University of Himachal Pradesh
  3. Prof Sanjeev Jain - Central University of Jammu
  4. Prof Kshitij Bhushan Daso - Central University of Jharkhand
  5. Prof Battu Satyanarayana - Central University of  Karnataka 
  6. Prof Muthukalingan Krishnani - Central University of Tamil Nadu
  7. Prof Basuthkar J Rao - Central University of Hyderabad
  8. Prof Kameshwar Nath Singh - Central University of South Bihar
  9. Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla - North-Eastern Hill University
  10. Prof Alok Kumar Chakraborty - Guru Ghasidas University
  11. Prof Syed Ainul Hasan - Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU)
  12. Prof N Lokendra Singh - Manipur University 

It is noteworthy that a total of 10 central universities, including JNU and DU, have vacancies for vice-chancellors. Presently, the central universities without any regular VC include leading educational institutions like Banaras Hindu University, Delhi University, and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
