Delhi: 11 Vehicles Damaged As School Wall Collapses In Dilshad Garden Amid Heavy Rains

Several vehicles parked along the wall by SG Pocket residents were damaged. Eleven automobiles suffer minor or significant damage.

Around 11 vehicles were damaged in east Delhi's Dilshad Garden district on Saturday rain when a school wall collapsed on them, according to authorities, news agency PTI reported. The rear wall of Mukherjee School, which borders the SG Pocket of Dilshad Garden, also brought down a few trees and the school fence, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rohit Meena. Several vehicles parked along the wall by SG Pocket residents were damaged. Eleven automobiles suffer minor or significant damage. According to the DCP, no one was hurt.

Other incidences of trees falling were recorded in West Shalimar Bagh in northwest Delhi, Block BF in Shalimar Bagh, and Gujranwala Town in north Delhi's Model Town region.

According to fire officials, no injuries were recorded in any of these occurrences.

Waterlogging was observed near the Tata Power Limited office on Kanjhawala road in northwest Delhi, according to MCD.

Rain and gusty winds pounded portions of Delhi on Saturday, providing relief to inhabitants of the national capital from the sweltering weather, authorities said.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the lowest temperature in Delhi on Saturday was 27 degrees Celsius, three degrees more than the season's normal.

Rain fell in several sections of the city during the day, including east Delhi, Shahdara, northeast Delhi, and the south.

Traffic was also disrupted in numerous places of the national capital, particularly around the Delhi-Gurgaon border.

“Traffic is affected on Outer Ring Road in the carriageway from Bhairon Mandir towards Savitri flyover due to uprooted of a tree near Paras flyover. Kindly avoid the stretch," the Delhi Traffic Police posted on X.

“Traffic is affected on Mathura Road in the carriageway from Ashram towards Badarpur due to waterlogging near Aali village. Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly,” they said in another post.

Commuters flocked to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the gridlock following the rain.

One user mentioned that traffic was terrible at Ajmeri Gate, while another mentioned a traffic bottleneck at the Ber Sarai-JNU intersection.

According to witnesses, the rain caused massive traffic jams from Modi Mill to Chirag Delhi Flyover, Anad Vihar-Dilshad Garden stretch, Bharat Nagar, from Kirby Place to Nangal Raya flyover, Bawana Road, near Professor Joginder Singh Marg T-point, Janakpuri to Andhra School, Kakaji Mandir road and in front of Nand Nagri depot.
