Delhi Minister Urges People Living In Relief Camps To Stay Put As Yamuna Level Might Rise

Following the downpours in parts of Haryana on Sunday, the water level of Yamuna has been on the rise again. Delhi Minister Atishi has urged the people to continue staying at the relief camps.

Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi on Monday urged the people of the national capital living in relief camps to stay put as the water level of Yamuna water was on the rise again. Heavy rain lashed parts of Haryana on Sunday following which the water level of Yamuna rose slightly and since then it has showed an increasing trend. The Cabinet Minister in a tweet said, "The Central Water Commission estimates that it can reach 206.1 metres overnight. But there is no danger for the people of Delhi from this. But all the people living in relief camps are requested not to go back to their homes just yet. Go back to your homes only after the water level goes below the danger mark."

The water level of Yamuna at 12 pm stood at 205.8 metres whereas it was at 205.45 metres at 6 am today. It still continues to flow above the danger mark of 205.33 metres which it had crossed days back.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to everyone this morning (when the Yamuna was still showing a downward trend) to help those who have been affected by the floods. Earlier, he took to Twitter to say, "The water has started to recede. Now people will go back to their homes from the relief camps. We have to help them to get their life back to normal. I appeal to all people - help people with 'body, mind and money'. This is a work of virtue."
