Rare Medicinal Herbs Get Destroyed In Massive Fire In Tamil Nadu Forests

Due to hot weather and wind, the fire became massive and spread fast. It gutted herbs, shrubs, and trees and killed a few birds and animals.

Tamil Nadu: A forest fire in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai district destroyed rare medicinal herbs and trees covering 2.4 hectares on Sunday. The cause of the fire in Jawadhu Hills has yet to be ascertained.

Due to hot weather and wind, the fire became massive and spread fast. It gutted herbs, shrubs, and trees and killed a few birds and animals. Several teams from the forest department and fire and rescue services department fought hard to extinguish the fire, which is now contained.

In Achakarai, a bamboo-rich area near Mudumalai, flames soared nearly 50 meters high as dry trees fueled the fire. Fire and rescue teams rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after an intense battle. A similar wildfire in the Sigur forest area was also contained.
