Delhi: Food Delivery Agent Found Murdered In Nangloi With Injury Marks Around Neck, Police Say

Delhi police rushed to the spot as soon as they received the call about the death of the identified individual Amarjeet (30) who was working as a delivery agent for an online food aggregator.

A food delivery agent was found dead at his home in the Nangloi area of outer Delhi on Saturday. Identified as Amarjeet (30), his body was found by his uncle and house owner, Laxman, this morning, as per police. Delhi police confirmed they got a call regarding the incident on May 4, 2024, at 8:22 AM. As soon as they received the call, a police team rushed to the spot where the dead body was discovered with injury marks on his neck.

They said that the injury marks were found around the neck of the deceased, however, the motive behind the murder is still being investigated. "The caller was Laxman who owned the house at Rao Vihar, Nangloi where his nephew Amarjeet Mehto, 30 years, was lying dead," said a police official, ANI reported.

Food Delivery Agent Murder On Intervening Night Of Thursday And Friday: Police

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Jimmy Chiram indicated that the murder occurred during the night between Thursday and Friday. For the last 10 years, Amarjeet has been staying in the house that belonged to his uncle Laxman. But, his uncle lives in Jwalapuri, Chiram said.

Amarjeet was employed as a delivery agent for an online food aggregator, Zomato. Additionally, he had been married for eight months, with his wife residing in their hometown in Bihar, as confirmed by another police official. "Crime team with Forensic experts have visited the spot. His body has been shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for autopsy," he said, PTI quoted saying.

A team comprising crime investigators and forensic experts conducted an examination at the crime scene. Subsequently, the body was transferred to SG Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, with an ongoing investigation to resolve the crime, as stated by the police.
