Delhi Ministers Ask Govt Officials Not To Take Direct Orders From LG Saxena

All the ministers instructed their respective department secretaries to strictly follow the Transaction of Business Rules and stop taking orders from LG Saxena.

The ongoing conflict between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena is escalating by the day, it seems, with ministers on Friday instructing government officials to stop taking orders from LG Saxena.

All the ministers instructed their respective department secretaries to strictly follow the Transaction of Business Rules (TBR). The secretaries were told to report to the minister about any direct order received from LG Saxena.

The ministers of the Kejriwal government said that the "implementation of unconstitutional direct orders of Lieutenant Governor Saxena is a violation of rule 57 of the TBR". Also, any order given by the LG is not in adherence to the Constitution and the directions of the Supreme Court, the ministers said.

ESCALATING TENSION BETWEEN CM KEJRIWAL-LG SAXENA

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that LG Saxena should take steps to address the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. Sharing a media report related to the murder of a 75-year-old woman in Neb Sarai police station area, he tweeted, "Hon’ble LG sir, kindly do something about law and order situation in the city. People were hurt when u said yesterday that you are satisfied wid Delhi’s law and order situation.

On Wednesday (February 22), a day after Saxena's meeting with the deputy commissioners of Delhi Police, he and the Lieutenant Governor engaged in a war of words on Twitter. Saxena had tweeted that the Delhi Police is doing a commendable job despite the challenges. To this, Kejriwal tweeted: "I am surprised that you are satisfied with the law and order situation in Delhi. In the last one year, the law and order situation has deteriorated. People have started feeling very insecure. It means whatever is being done is not enough. Instead of stopping the work of the people of Delhi every day, instead of doing politics, pay attention to this."

The Delhi government and the LG have also locked horns over the excise policy and teachers' training in Poland.
