No Holi For AAP As Party Lays Out 4-Day Protest Plan After Arvind Kejriwal Sent To 6-Day ED Remand
Aam Aadmi Party have decided to boycott Holi celebrations as they will hold a series of protests over four days starting today, after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was sent to 6-day ED remand.
Aam Aadmi Party Delhi convenor Gopal Rai on Friday announced that the party will hold a series of protests along with the I.N.D.I.A. bloc leaders and will boycott Holi celebrations this year after Delhi CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate and was sent to remand until March 26. The four-day plan is slated to begin on Saturday and includes no Holi celebrations, protests against BJP, PM Modi, and an all-India dharna, stated AAP leader Gopal Rai on Friday.
Here is the four-day protest plan:
March 23: On Saturday, AAP and INDIA bloc leaders will hold a mega protest in Delhi's ITO outside Shaheedi Park. Punjab CM Bhagwanr Mann who arrived in the national capital yesterday and visited Kejriwal's family at his residence will also be a part of the mega protest. Several leaders and partner parties of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc are likely to join the protest.
AAP ministers, councillors, and MLAs urged the party workers and supporters from their respective constituencies to join the mega protest today.
They will also observe Shaheed Diwas— the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru. The Martyrdom Day is observed on March 23 annually and marks the day on which the three were hanged in 1931 in the Lahore conspiracy case.
March 24: Rai stated that the party will burn effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in nationwide protests.
March 25: On the day of Holi, the Kejriwal-led ruling party will boycott all Holi celebrations and will instead go door-to-door, meeting residents to tell them how BJP was allegedly involved in the arrest of the Delhi CM, calling it "murder of democracy."
March 26: On Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party has planned to gherao PM Modi's residence in an all-India protest.
Gopal Rai, while talking about the last day of the four-day protest plan stated that a major all-India protest is scheduled for March 26 during which the "PM's residence will be gheraoed." He also stated that the protestors would sit outside the PM's house.
"If the BJP thinks that they can finish the Aam Aadmi Party and threaten the entire Opposition by arresting Arvind Kejriwal, then they are wrong.A battle has begun. We have decided that we will stage a protest at the BJP headquarters at 10 am tomorrow," AAP leader Gopal Rai stated.
