Nearly six months after his arrest, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh walked out of Delhi's Tihar Jail on Wednesday for his pre-release medical check. The development came a day after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not oppose his bail plea. He is likely to secure his final release on Wednesday evening.
Sources told ABP News that the process of depositing bail was completed today at 10 am, facilitating Sanjay Singh's release. The court specified that his release would be subject to the terms and conditions decided by the trial court, allowing him to continue his political activities.
Upon his release, Sanjay Singh will be welcomed by workers at the Aam Aadmi Party headquarters, where his Lok Sabha campaign will be launched. Notably, his campaign will be linked to Arvind Kejriwal's arrest, underscoring the political context surrounding the much-awaited elections.
The Supreme Court's decision, delivered by a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Dipankar Datta, and PB Varale, asserted that Sanjay Singh's bail should not set a precedent. Furthermore, the court affirmed his right to engage in political activities during the ongoing legal proceedings.
