MP: After Ujjain, Minor 'Abducted & Raped' In Shivpuri, Congress Corporator Booked
The Congress corporator allegedly took the four-month-pregnant girl to Jhansi for an abortion. When the girl did not return home, her parents filed a missing person report with the local police.
The police in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district registered a case against a Congress corporator for allegedly raping a teenager and forcing her to undergo an abortion, news agency PTI reported citing an official familiar with the matter on Thursday (September 28). According to the report, accused Sagar Ghavir (30) of Pichhore town allegedly filmed the sexual assault and exploited the girl by threatening to make the video viral.
According to the report, Ghavir allegedly took the four-month-pregnant girl to Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, for an abortion on September 25.
When the girl did not return home, her parents filed a missing person report with the local police, (SDOP) Prashant Sharma told PTI.
After she returned, the police investigated her complaint and filed a FIR (first information report) against Ghavri on Wednesday under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rape and abduction, as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
While the complainant was a minor at the time of the crime, she was 18 at the time of filing the FIR, according to the official, who added that a search is underway to apprehend the absconding corporator.
It is to be noted that the poll-bound state of Madhya Pradesh is already witnessing a case where a 12-year-old was found bleeding in a semi-naked state begging for help in the Barnagar Road area under the Mahakal Police Station limits in Ujjain.
Her condition was critical, so she was transferred to Indore for further treatment.
The police arrested an auto rickshaw driver on Thursday for allegedly raping and brutalising the girl. According to a member of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) who visited the hospital, the girl's condition in an Indore hospital was gradually improving.
Accused Bharat Soni, who was detained during the investigation, tried to flee when police took him to the crime scene to recreate the scene and collect evidence such as torn clothes, Mahakal police station in-charge Ajay Verma told PTI.
