Municipal Authorities Issued Notice To Halt Construction
The builder had reportedly added five floors to an old structure where residents were already living. Officials suspect that a design flaw and poor construction quality caused the incident.
Additionally, the owner was constructing a temple next to the building and had collected donations under the guise of a trust. Allegations have surfaced that the building's construction was undertaken without proper authorisation from the relevant authorities.
As per the IANS report, locals claimed that municipal authorities had issued notices to the owner, instructing him to halt the construction. However, despite repeated complaints, no significant action was taken, ultimately leading to the tragedy. They also alleged that whenever officials warned the owner, he would temporarily pause construction but would resume it after a few days.
Bhadradri Kothagudem District Collector Jitesh V. Patil and Superintendent of Police Rohit Raj were closely monitoring the ongoing rescue operation.
