Chaos Erupts At MCD Meeting As Delhi Ward Councillors Create Ruckus — WATCH

During a Delhi Municipal Corporation meeting, Ward Councillors protested and chanted slogans creating a ruckus in the house.

The Ward Councillors have created a ruckus amid the house meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday. During the meeting, approving overdue payments for feeding cattle housed in four cow shelters, accelerating road development projects in south Delhi, and hiring additional manpower for the Horticulture Department was a primary agenda tabled in the house.

A video posted by the news agency ANI shows a few of the Ward Councillors shouting 'Aam Admi Party Jindabaad' and others were seen protesting. After a while, the protesting Ward Councillors began shouting the slogan 'ye tanasahi nahi chalegi (This dictatorship won't work)'.

According to a report by PTI, on Monday, the MCD planned to table the agenda to develop roads and drains in south Delhi's Aya Nagar area that aims to enhance infrastructure.

MCD's Agendas

The agenda mentioned discussions on administrative approvals and financial sanctions for payments related to cattle feeding in four cow shelters, aiming to settle outstanding dues and cover projected expenses for the 2024-25 financial year.

Furthermore, the corporation planned to enhance manpower in the Horticulture Department by hiring agencies to provide semi-skilled and skilled workers, ensuring improved maintenance of green spaces and public parks across the city.

Efforts to modernise street lighting and upgrade footpaths for pedestrian safety were also on the agenda. Other proposals included administrative reforms, such as appointing deputy commissioners for different zones and promoting assistant engineers (Civil) to Level-7 positions to strengthen the municipal workforce.

Security and infrastructure improvements at Kasturba Hospital were also to be considered, with a proposal to issue a tender via the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal for hiring security personnel and ward supervisors.

Additionally, discussions were also scheduled to take place on expanding the LED streetlight project in collaboration with BRPL, EESL, and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited to ensure better illumination on city roads.
