Zahan Shares Nostalgic Pictures

Taking to Instagram, Zahan shared two memorable pictures of Shashi Kapoor. The first image shows the veteran star seated in a cozy, book-filled space, possibly his home, dressed in a white kurta-pajama, holding a book and a pipe, appearing lost in thought. The second picture captures Shashi Kapoor standing in front of Prithvi Theatre, surrounded by various posters of plays. Clad in a simple white kurta-pajama, he exudes effortless charm and his lifelong passion for the arts.

For the caption, Zahan kept it simple and heartfelt, writing: “Salagirah dadaji.”

Shashi Kapoor’s Illustrious Career

Shashi Kapoor, honored with four National Film Awards, gained international recognition through his work in several English-language films, particularly those produced by Merchant Ivory.

The youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, he began his acting career as a child in 1948 with Aag, directed by his brother Raj Kapoor, and made his adult debut in 1961 with Yash Chopra's political drama Dharmputra.

He rose to stardom in 1965 with two blockbusters, Waqt and Jab Jab Phool Khile. His illustrious filmography includes iconic hits such as Chor Machaye Shor, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Deewaar, Chori Mera Kaam, Kabhi Kabhie, Fakira, Trishul, Suhaag, Kranti, and Namak Halaal. He also starred in critically acclaimed films like Junoon, Kalyug, and Vijeta. His final film was Ghar Bazar, released in 1998.

Honors and Legacy

In recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema, Shashi Kapoor was conferred with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011 and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2014.

Shashi Kapoor's Death

In 2017, Shashi Kapoor was hospitalized due to what was initially believed to be a chest infection. He passed away on December 4, 2017, with his official cause of death attributed to liver cirrhosis. His body was cremated with full honors.
