Delhi: Rain Lashes Parts Of National Capital As AQI Witnesses Improvement

Earlier today, the Stage IV curbs under the Graded Response Action Plan were revoked after Delhi's AQI saw a decline, reaching 369 at 4 PM on Tuesday.

Several parts of Delhi received rain on Tuesday as the Air Quality Index in the national capital witnessed further improvement.  

The city woke up to a foggy morning today with the Minimum temperature settling at 9.9 degrees Celsius, which was above the season's average. The India Meteorological Department had forecast a light drizzle for today, with the maximum temperature anticipated to settle at around 19 degrees Celsius.

As of 8:30 AM on Tuesday, the Ayanagar station in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Safdarjung at 9.9, Ridge at 10.3, and Palam and Lodhi Road station at 10.4. The humidity levels stood at 100 per cent at 8.30 AM, the IMD said. 

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 398 in the 'very poor' category, which was an improvement from the 406 AQI on Monday.

Earlier today, the Stage IV curbs under the Graded Response Action Plan were revoked after a dip in the pollution levels was witnessed in the national capital. Delhi's AQI saw a decline in the 24-hour average AQI, which was recorded at 369 at 4 PM on Tuesday, December 24.

Stage IV curbs under the GRAP ​include a complete ban on entry of non-essential polluting trucks into Delhi, construction activities, and mandate the shifting of school classes, except for classes 10 and 12, to hybrid mode. 

According to forecasts from the IMD and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, the air quality situation in the city is likely to improve further due to favourable meteorological conditions, news agency PTI reported.
