West Bengal Business Summit 2022: Adani Group Commits To Investing Rs 10,000 Cr Over Next Decade

Gautam Adani said that he anticipates that this investment will create 25,000 or more direct and indirect jobs for the people of Bengal

New Delhi: At the inaugural session of Bengal Global Business Summit 2022 (BGBS) in Kolkata on Wednesday, Adani Group has committed to invest Rs 10,000 crore in West Bengal over the next decade.

Gautam Adani, the chairman and founder of the group, announced about the proposed investment on Wednesday.

According to the statement by Adani Group, the company will invest in Bengal and that will span from world class port infrastructure, state of art data centres and the undersea cables that will connect them across the oceans, centres of excellence in digital innovation, massive fulfilment centres, warehouses and logistics parks, and the continued expansion of Adani Wilmar’s Fortune products, which is already a household name in the state.

This is the first time Gautam Adani is taking part in the Bengal business summit.

“We anticipate that this investment will create 25,000 or more direct and indirect jobs for the people of Bengal,” he said, while adding “Over the next decade, we expect our total investment in Bengal to exceed Rs 10,000 crore. Thereafter, as we continue to expand here, we will bring into Bengal our world-class expertise across the green energy value chain.”

According to report, Adani is also the highest bidder for the Tajpur deep sea port. However, the Mamata Banerjee government is yet to announce Adani Port as the L1 bidder.

“What I am committing to bring to Bengal is the best of the Adani Group – our expertise in infrastructure, our speed of execution, our experience, and our focus on building bigger and better. What I am committing to bring is the technology and scale that will help recalibrate infrastructure in Bengal. What I am committing to bring is the promise that I will live up to the expectations of the people of Bengal,” Adani said at the meet.

Adani Wilmar, a group company of the Adani’s, has an edible oil plant in Haldia.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and several industrialists were present in the summit.
