Petrol Price at Rs.100: Madhya Pradesh Sees A Hike After Rajasthan

Petrol prices cross Rs. 100 mark in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh: On Thursday, petrol price crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in Madhya Pradesh this comes after Rajasthan where the prices cross the 100- mark. Fuel rates were increased for the tenth day in a row today. Petrol price was hiked by 34 paise per litre and diesel by 32 paise, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

Branded or additive-laced petrol attracts higher taxes, had crossed the Rs 100-mark in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, regular petrol crossed the physiological mark in Madhya Pradesh, this comes a day after it crossed 100 in Sriganganagar town of Rajasthan on Wednesday. 

Petrol is priced at Rs 100.25 per litre and diesel at Rs 90.35 in a place called Anuppur in Madhya Pradesh. Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as VAT and freight charges. Rajasthan levies the highest value-added tax (VAT) on petrol in the country, followed by Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh levies 33 per cent plus Rs 4.5 a litre and 1 per cent cess on petrol. On diesel, it charges 23 per cent plus Rs 3 per litre and 1 per cent cess. 

In Delhi, the price of petrol has gone up from ₹ 89.54 per litre to ₹ 89.88 per litre while diesel price has witnessed a hike from ₹ 79.95 per litre to ₹ 80.27 per litre. In Mumbai, the current petrol and diesel rates are at ₹ 96.32 per litre and ₹ 87.32 per litre respectively. The fuel rates remain the costliest in Mumbai among the four major cities. The price rise was increased for a consecutive tenth day in the national capital even as India asked global oil producers to ease production cuts since higher prices are impacting demand in Asia’s third largest economy.
