Free Aadhaar Update Ends Today, Here's How To Change Your Details

The deadline to update the Aadhaar card without any fees will end on Wednesday, June 14. Physical Aadhaar centres charge a fee of Rs 50 for document updates.

Free Aadhaar Update: In a move to support people with updating their Aadhaar documents, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in March had announced free updates in Aadhaar online. However, the free service was available only for three months starting March 15. The deadline to update the Aadhaar card without any fees will end on Wednesday, June 14. Physical Aadhaar centres charge a fee of Rs 50 for document updates.

You can update your Aadhaar documents on the myAadhaar portal. Starting tomorrow, June 15, 2023, updating the Aadhaar card on the myAadhaar portal will also be chargeable.

The UIDAI has been urging citizens to upload Proof of Identification and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) documents to revalidate their demographic information, particularly if Aadhaar was issued more than 10 years ago and was never updated. The revalidation is aimed to improve services, and also ensure that the success rate of authentication increases.

In a tweet, UIDAI said, "Keep Demographic Details Updated to Strengthen Your #Aadhaar. If your Aadhaar had been issued 10 years ago & had never been updated - you may now upload Proof of Identity & Proof of Address documents online at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in ‘FREE OF COST’ from 15 March - June 14, 2023."

Here's How You Can Update Aadhaar Details For Free

  • Firstly, log in at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ using their Aadhaar number. Enter One Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number.
  • Then click on ‘Document Update’ and the existing details of the resident will be displayed.
  • Here you need to verify the details, and if found correct, then click on the next hyperlink.
  • Then choose the Proof of Identity and Proof of Address document from the dropdown list
