Fixed Deposits Still A Safe Bet In July 2025? Here’s What Top Banks Offer

Among the banks offering competitive rates, prominent players like State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank are widely favoured by the public

As economic uncertainties continue to influence investor sentiment, fixed deposits (FDs) are holding their ground as a dependable investment avenue, especially for conservative savers seeking predictable returns. With interest rates in flux, many investors are gravitating toward the security and stability that FDs offer.

Among the banks offering competitive rates, prominent players like State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank are widely favoured by the public. These institutions offer more than just moderate returns; they also provide strong customer service, robust digital infrastructure, and broad physical reach, lending a sense of safety to depositors.

FD Rates In July 2025

Several banks in India are currently offering attractive interest rates on fixed deposits, with small finance banks leading the pack. Slice Small Finance Bank tops the list with an interest rate of 8.50 per cent for tenures ranging from 18 months 1 day to 18 months 2 days. Suryoday Small Finance Bank follows closely, offering 8.40 per cent for tenures above 30 months up to 3 years. Utkarsh Small Finance Bank offers 8.25 per cent for a 2 to 3-year tenure, while Jana Small Finance Bank provides 8.20 per cent for a 5-year deposit. Ujjivan Small Finance Bank is offering 7.75 per cent for a 2-year term. 

Among traditional banks, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and SBI (under its Amrit Vrishti Scheme) are offering competitive rates of 6.60 per cent for various tenures ranging from 444 days to 10 years. These rates are indicative and subject to change, so investors are advised to check with individual banks for the latest updates before making any deposit decisions.

Choosing Between Higher Returns And Stability

While small finance banks are leading the pack in terms of interest rates going as high as 8.5 per cent, they tend to carry a slightly higher risk compared to larger, more established banks. Traditional banks, while offering lower returns, are trusted for their stability and institutional strength.
