PAN 2.0: The upgraded PAN card incorporates a QR code that allows for swift and secure verification of key details, such as the cardholder’s photo, signature, name, parent’s name, and date of birth
PAN 2.0: The government has unveiled PAN 2.0, an advanced version of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, featuring enhanced security measures and the integration of a QR code. While QR codes were initially introduced on PAN cards in 2017-18, many individuals still possess older cards without this feature.
The introduction of PAN 2.0 by Centre aims to enhance the card's utility and security, ensuring ease of verification for various financial and identity-related transactions.
What's New with PAN 2.0?
The upgraded PAN card incorporates a QR code that allows for swift and secure verification of key details, such as the cardholder’s photo, signature, name, parent’s name, and date of birth. According to the Ministry of Finance, the QR code can be scanned using a dedicated device, simplifying the authentication process.
Notably, existing PAN cards without QR codes will remain valid, and upgrading to a QR-enabled card is optional and not mandatory.
