Bank Holidays In October 2022: With the onset of the festive season, banks will remain closed for almost 15 days in October 2022. Apart from this, banks will also remain closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturday of the coming month. This takes the total number of bank holidays in October 2022 to 22 days.
October 2022 is filled with festivities starting from Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Karva Chauth to Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
While the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has listed a total of 15 bank holidays across several regions, there will be eight weekend holidays as well.

While some holidays differ depending on whether the particular state observes the occasion, banks remain closed on all public holidays and gazetted holidays. Banks will remain closed on October 1 on account of half yearly closing of the bank accounts.
The Reserve Bank of India-mandated bank holidays are based on three rules — holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act; holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and banks’ closing of accounts.
