August Bank Holidays: Banks To Remain Closed For 8 Days In Remaining 12 Days Of August, Check Full List

According to the RBI calendar, banks will remain closed from Thursday, August 19, till next Monday, August 23. That is there will be a holiday in banks for consecutive 5 days

New Delhi: If you're planning to go to the bank for some urgent work, you'll have to wait until Monday. In fact, according to the holiday calendar list of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), all private and public sector banks in India will remain closed for 5 consecutive days.

According to the RBI calendar, banks will remain closed from August 19 to August 23 as August marks the beginning of the festive season. Online banking activities will continue during this period and cash can also be withdrawn from ATM machines.

According to the RBI calendar, 15 holidays were originally allotted for the month of August 2021. This includes two Sundays and a fourth Saturday. The holidays issued by RBI in calendars across India have been divided according to state-wide celebrations.

For this month the holidays from the RBI list lands under the classification of 'Negotiable Instruments Act' The second classification of the RBI listing could be the 'Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-time gross settlement holidays' and 'banks' closing of accounts. But RBI has not indicated that these other two classifications apply to the current list for the month of August. There are only two holidays that will be celebrated by most of the states and cities, one is Muharram and the other is Janmashtami.

  • August 20, 2021 - Muharram / 1st Onam (Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram)
  • August 21, 2021 - Tiruvonam (Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi)
  • August 22, 2021 - Sunday
  • August 23, 2021 - Shri Narayanguru Jayanti (Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi)
  • August 28, 2021 - Fourth Saturday
  • August 29, 2021 - Sunday
  • August 30, 2021 - Janmashtami / Janmashtami/ Krishna Jayanti (Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and Gangtok)
