New Delhi: The key Indian equity benchmarks on Monday started trading on a lower note, mostly due to global cues.
The BSE Sensex slumped over 200 points in opening trade on Monday, tracking losses in index majors Wipro, Bajaj Finserv, and Infosys amid a largely negative trend in global markets. Besides, unabated foreign fund outflows also put pressure on domestic equities, traders said.
As of 2:30 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex pack was down 1,900 points at 57,358 and the broader NSE Nifty slumped 510 points to 17,106 under extreme selling pressure.
All Sensex 30 shares were in the negative zone, with Bajaj Finance as the biggest percentage loser, down 5.4 per cent. Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Titan, and Wipro were the other major losers, down 4.5 per cent each.
