'Work Is Important, But Health Is Non-Negotiable': CEO's ICU Scare After Sudden Nosebleeds; Internet Reacts

Mishra concluded his post with a simple yet profound piece of advice. "Listen to your body. Don’t wait for a wake-up call like mine,” he wrote

The relentless pursuit of career goals today often leads individuals to overlook their health, striving to meet deadlines while juggling multiple responsibilities. This “always-on” work culture can take a toll, as highlighted by a recent personal experience shared by a CEO through a social media post on LinkedIn.

Amit Mishra, CEO and founder of Dazeinfo Media & Research Pvt Ltd, in a post recounted a health scare that served as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritising well-being over work. In his post, Mishra described an unexpected medical emergency that struck while he was engrossed in work on his laptop.

"Work is important, but health is non-negotiable," he wrote, stressing the critical lesson he learned.

Mishra revealed that he experienced sudden, uncontrollable nosebleeds with no prior warning signs. This alarming symptom led to an emergency hospital visit, where doctors discovered his blood pressure had surged to a life-threatening 230, necessitating immediate admission to the intensive care unit (ICU).

What made the situation even more unsettling was the absence of typical symptoms. "No headaches, no dizziness, no warnings, no history of BP,” he wrote. “Yet I landed in this unexpected crisis."

Adding to the mystery, Mishra’s blood pressure unexpectedly dropped the following day without any clear explanation. He continues to be under medical supervision as doctors investigate the underlying cause of these sudden fluctuations.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his health, Mishra used his experience to send a powerful message to professionals who often neglect their health in favor of work.

"Your body doesn’t always give clear warnings. High BP, stress, and health risks can be silent killers. Regular checkups are a must," he advised. He urged professionals not to dismiss minor signs of physical distress, warning that many people assume they’re fine until it’s too late.

“Work is important, but health is non-negotiable. We often ignore small signs, thinking we’re fine, until we’re not," he added.

Mishra concluded his heartfelt post with a simple yet profound piece of advice. "Listen to your body. Don’t wait for a wake-up call like mine,” he wrote.

His post struck a chord with many professionals, sparking a broader conversation about health in the corporate world. Numerous users shared their own experiences and insights on maintaining a healthy work-life balance, reinforcing the need to put health first in the face of demanding careers.

“Thanks for the note and wish you a speedy recovery. One suggestion as a friend, if you have still not recovered. Then avoid social platforms at this point and focus completely on health. This introspection according to me can wait,” wrote one of the LinkedIn users.

Another user added, “The problem is, we don't care. Until we are jolted. Am sure you would have read similar stories of many people like you. But you would have ignored them. Thinking you were fine and that it won't happen to you.”
